10-10-2011 (lesson overview)

In today's lesson me & Sam have began to put together a mood board of the types of shots that we would like to use in our video (these were taken from YouTube clips from various videos that Tyler Ward made or others) we also discussed about filming in an empty car park and the effect on the camera to have a vintage feel to it (e.g. black and white- but vintage like a light leak).

Songs for 'Conor to pick from' and Pros&Cons for filming each idea

Songs for 'Conor to pick from

You Me At Six- You've made your bed

Good Charlotte- Let The Music Play

You Me At Six- Poker Face (cover)

You Me At Six- There's No Such Thing As Accidental Infidelity

You Me At Six- Playing The Blame Game

Or any that Conor suggests or one of his own.

Key: Tanya's Choice, Sam's Choice

Pros & Cons of filming each idea

 Pros:
  • If we were to film each idea that both of us had it would cover a wide spectrum of styles this may attract more of an audience.
  • The joint ideas will lead to more ideas that will possibly be more 'outside the box' making it more of an original music video.
 Cons:
  • If we were to film each idea that me and Sam had we may find ourselves creating extra work for ourselves.
  • There will be too much film to edit and unnecessary film so it would be a lot of waste film and time.
  • It will take longer to edit and put together also wasting time that could be put on other matters such as paper work or other studies.

Black Shampoo- The Man (concept video)

This is a concept video, because it has a person who is wandering aimlessly with a camera. The main chunk of the video is of him filming a birds eye view shot of his feet. There is also various other shots of his surroundings such as buildings and walls and occasionally objects that relate to some of the lyrics e.g. his shadow at (0.13-0:15) and the roof at (0:26-027) or when he speaks about 'the shadows looking so tall' he does a worms eye view of a building at (2:04-2:08) The director of this video has approached this with a very artistic view as it is all in black and white with an extreme contrast as there is very little shades of grey. The camera being held and not on a dolly of some sort gives it art more of a natural and casual feel to the song.

Notes from 29-09-11

Today in media we began the lesson by miming to the song- 'Don't stop believing' by Glee we then sung along to this song with vocals. The point of this excersise was to see the diference in fake performance and real performance and to see the quality difference.

Summary of 3-10-11

We watched various videos of Tyler Wards from YouTube style of music videos these influenced us to create a similar style with our own twist. We have a strong idea with the use of one person playing different instruments and then everyday life being filmed (this will include clips of myself & Sam) and they will then be incorporated throughout the music video. Next lesson we should have the person confirmed and then ready with a song to plan in much more detail.

3-10-11 Planning Music Video

We watched a few clips from on YouTube of TylerWardsMusic's Channel Here
We were both influenced alot by the style of videos he creates e.g.- How to love-lil wayne (Tyler's take) and Like a G6- Far East Movement (Tyler's take). We also like the genre of music he does as it is other song but well known artists but he re-creates them himself or with other band mates in various genres; such as rock or acoustic versions.
WE are also aiming to video the same person performing (playing various instruments) throughout the video with various clips of everyday life within. For example in Party Rock Anthem- LMFAO (Tyler's take) there are short clips of Tyler Ward playing various instruments and then there are clips within of other people dancing along and 'fooling' around and in his video SuperBass-Niki Minaj (Tyler's take) it is of them all doing general everyday things. This influences us a lot to create a video like all of these with a 'mix-n-blend' of what's going on in tall those music videos.

To achieve the idea of recording the same person performing, we will be getting a friend involved to record as he can play many instruments and is not camera shy or afraid to perform. Me & Sam will both be withing the video but the main idea of this is to show the performer at his height....
